"Testament of a Murdered Woman," directed by Zacharie Pain and featuring Em Anita, will be screened during the annual short film event at the Montreal Independent Film Festival. This screening is scheduled for May 10th from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Cinema du Parc in Montreal.

Set in a small farming village at the beginning of the 20th century, the story follows Monica Harris, a single black mother sentenced to death for killing her neighbor, Earl Watts, a rural man notorious for abusing his wife. Used to battling for her existence, her final endeavor is to secure a better future for her children.

Zacharie Pain was born in 2001 in Vannes, France. He completed his bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics at the University of Rennes in 2022 and pursued an engineering program in Sciences and Arts in Paris in 2025. A self-taught filmmaker, he developed his craft through personal exploration, early educational influences from his family, and a passion for independent and auteur cinema.

In 2019, he co-founded the film association Misty Movie, where he has written and directed various short films. His early work includes the 48-hour production "Laurent, il est chiant," which was chosen as the opening film for the École du Louvre Film Festival. His latest short film, "Testament of a Murdered Woman," marks a significant step in his career — his first large-scale project, fully realized from script to screen, crafted with a vision for cinematic excellence aimed at major international festivals. His artistic style favors films with intricate interpretations, strong yet nuanced messages, unforgettable soundtracks, and incisive dialogue, with a particular affinity for the Western genre.
