Two disappearances have unsettled Kolkata’s Prafulla Nagar: Totoro, the young son of Sub-Inspector Sanjay Konar, and Sara, a Swedish researcher studying shamans. Their destinies converge around an enigmatic figure, Trilokadarshi Baba. Formerly known as Tilu, a boy tormented by violence and visions of death, Trilok evolves into a mystic who appears to perceive the boundaries between the living and the beyond.

As Sanjay’s investigation progresses, the distinction between truth and faith begins to blur. Sara’s hidden guilt, Trilok’s disquieting calmness, and the shadow of forgotten crimes draw the inquiry into a domain where reason starts to disintegrate. What begins as a police case transforms into a contemplation on belief, redemption, and the illusions that shape human understanding. When Trilok vanishes, leaving only silence, a question remains: was he a charlatan, a prophet, or merely a reflection of what lies unseen within us all?

Samik, born and raised in Kolkata, India—a city rich in art, culture, and cinema—was immersed in creativity from an early age. His father, a stage actor, his mother, a classical singer, and his grandfather, a writer, collectively cultivated an environment where storytelling and performance were integral to life.

During his college years, Samik had the unique opportunity to learn the intricacies of editorial aesthetics from Mr. Dulal Dutta, the legendary editor of all Satyajit Ray films. This experience profoundly influenced his cinematic vision and approach to storytelling.

After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, Samik commenced his career as a science reporter for the Science Association of Bengal. His creative journey took a transformative turn when he joined Rhythm & Hues Studios, the three-time Oscar-winning VFX powerhouse, where he gained practical experience in the evolving language of modern filmmaking.

His debut feature film, released theatrically in 2024, received widespread critical acclaim and numerous accolades at film festivals, along with popular honors such as the Filmfare and Anandalok Puraskar awards.

Continuing to push boundaries, Samik’s upcoming projects, Mushroom and Maya Satya Bhram, explore diverse genres, bridging the realms of the past and the future, reaffirming his status as one of the most visionary storytellers in contemporary Indian cinema.
