2026 Winners of the Montreal Independent Film Festival
The Montreal Independent Film Festival's seasonal international competition and yearly screenings through Cinema du Parc have become highly popular among independent filmmakers and artists globally. Under the supervision of the artistic director, the festival committee and programming team announce and vote for the best in various competition categories each season.
Participants compete for promotional opportunities and screenings in different sections of the festival, aiming to become annual finalists for theatrical screenings in Montreal. These finalists enjoy live screenings and red-carpet events at Cinema du Parc, providing a platform for the public and artists to celebrate indie cinema. This event also connects Montreal's film enthusiasts with international and Canadian independent filmmakers from various genres.

Every season, the programming committee carefully chooses films and script projects from a multitude of submissions, nominating artists and film projects for different competition categories.

These categories also acknowledge achievements in acting, directing, cinematography, screenwriting, editing, music videos, experimental cinema, animation, and student films, among others.

The festival additionally honors films addressing global human rights, environmental, and social issues. The upcoming screenings of the Montreal Independent Film Festival are scheduled for April 2027 at Cinema du Parc, in collaboration with Montreal Independent Film magazine. We are thrilled to announce the latest seasonal winners of the festival.
