Foujan : The Sound Of Silence

In an underground club in Tehran, a hearing-impaired DJ experiences the world through vibrations and techno music. Her sanctuary is disrupted by a violent police raid, compelling her to face the trauma that has altered her perception of reality.

Eliott Mogenet is a French filmmaker who operates at the crossroads of cinema and new technologies.

Prior to his filmmaking career, he spent a decade developing technology companies in Silicon Valley. Before that, he dedicated ten years to theater, from the age of six to sixteen, where he cultivated an early sensitivity to performance, rhythm, and the significance of silence.

He continues to direct with both crew and actors on set while employing generative tools as creative collaborators. He is more interested in what technology can reveal about memory, perception, and the emotional spaces that elude language than in what it can produce.

"Foujan: The Sound of Silence" is his debut animated short film. It originated from a conversation at the Cannes Film Market with a young Iranian director, who described a generation existing in dual worlds: enforced silence above and an underground culture of music and quiet defiance below. The film contains no dialogue, no crew in Tehran, and no composer. It is constructed from vibration, imagery, and the streets of a city he has never visited.
