The Montreal Independent Film Festival has showcased films for many years at Cinema du Parc, a renowned indie film venue in Montreal, and via online platforms like the MIFF magazine. Founded by Arsalan Baraheni, an acclaimed Canadian filmmaker, the festival has assembled a team of international and Canadian programmers and juries from the film industry to select, promote, award, and screen independent films and shorts of all genres from around the world. Recently, winners and nominees from Cannes and the Oscars, along with artists worldwide, have participated in the festival's competition and presented their films.

The most recent annual finalists of the Montreal Independent Film Festival were screened at Cinema du Parc on May 10th, 2026, drawing sold-out crowds of indie film enthusiasts. Attendees enjoyed a wide array of indie films across genres such as animation, documentary, drama, comedy, and experimental. The cinema featured films from Canada, France, Australia, the UK, India, and other countries.

MIFF was a vibrant celebration of creativity and innovation in cinema, providing filmmakers with a platform to present their stories and connect with an eager audience. As independent cinema flourishes, festivals like the Montreal Independent Film Festival are crucial in supporting and amplifying the voices of emerging indie talents in the film industry.

Each season, the programming committee meticulously selects films and script projects from numerous submissions, nominating artists for various competition categories that offer awards and honorable mentions in areas such as acting, directing, cinematography, screenwriting, editing, music video, experimental cinema, animation, student film, and more. The festival also recognizes films that address human rights, environmental, and social issues globally. We are thrilled to reveal the winners and honorable mentions of the seasonal festival. It is our pleasure to announce the latest seasonal winners of the fest.

MIFF Canada is devoted to independent films and the cinematic arts. The festival committee, comprising independent filmmakers, distributors, agents, and artists, is committed to establishing one of Canada's most prestigious international film festivals. MIFF Canada will host continuous screenings at Cinema du Parc, showcasing a variety of indie short films and feature films from all genres throughout the year, with annual screenings taking place at the cinema.
