Seven for Jack

From his 1926 memoir "You Can't Win", Seven For Jack explores an episode in the life of BC born burglar Jack Black, and his 1894 stint in Victoria - where black remarked the unsuspecting vulnerability of the idyllic port town - with a mix of images historical and representative, and narration drawn from Black's own diaristic reflections. The colonial backdrop of Victoria is meanwhile investigated by the suspicious eye of the lone thief, and its symbols of national supremacy and the righteousness of state power are turned on their heads. Seven for Jacks is a short Canadian documentary directed by John Ledingham.
